Staff Summary
* State law requires County Engineers of the State of Illinois to annually prepare an updated five-year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
* The five-year TIP is a planning document that serves, in part, as the scheduling component of the Lake County 2040 Transportation Plan and is intended as a guide for future improvement and maintenance.
* The County Engineer and Division of Transportation's staff have prepared the 2021-2026 Proposed Transportation Improvement Program and the County Engineer presented the program to the Public Works, Planning and Transportation Committee on April 28, 2021, and June 30, 2021.
* The Proposed 2021-2026 TIP aligns with the County Board Strategic Plan adopted in July 2019, including the Strategic Goal: Improve Infrastructure.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, in order to provide for a comprehensive and coordinated system of transportation improvements and maintenance, it is necessary to undertake a multi-year approach to the planning of said improvements and maintenance; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with 605 ILCS 5/5-301, the County Engineers of the State of Illinois are required to annually prepare an updated five-year Transportation Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS, said Transportation Improvement Program is a planning document and is therefore intended as a guide for future improvement and maintenance and is subject to modification; and
WHEREAS, on June 10, 2014, the Lake County Board adopted the Year 2040 Transportation Plan as its long-range transportation plan; and
WHEREAS, implementation of the Lake County 2040 Transportation Plan is accomplished, in part, through the adoption and implementation of the 2021-2026 Proposed Transportation Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS, the County Engineer and Division of Transportation's staff have prepared the 2021-2026 Proposed Transportation Improvement Program; and
