Resolution authorizing an emergency contract extension for the Natural Gas Transportation and Management Services.

 

Staff Summary

                     Exelon Energy has been providing natural gas transportation and management services since 2005.

                     There is a need to extend the current agreement with Exelon Energy through March 31, 2012 in order to continue service and provide time to secure a new contract.

                     The Purchasing Agent has determined that an emergency procurement exists to prevent serious disruption of government services.

                     This change is germane to the original contract as signed and is in the best interests of the County.

                     This contract will cost the County an estimated amount of $444,950.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Exelon Energy has been providing Natural Gas Transportation and Management Services since 2005; and

 

WHEREAS, there is a need to extend the current agreement with Exelon Energy through March 31, 2012 in order to continue service and provide time to secure a new contract; and

 

WHEREAS, in accordance with the Purchasing Ordinance, Article 6-103 the Purchasing Agent has declared that an emergency procurement exists to prevent serious disruption of government services; and

 

WHEREAS, emergency procurement and contract extensions require the approval of the County Board; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is authorized to enter into an emergency contract extension for the Natural Gas Transportation and Management Services through March 31, 2012 in the estimated amount of $44,495.
