Staff Summary
· Change orders that exceed 10% of the original contract amount must be reviewed and approved by the PWT and F&A Committees.
· This change order associated with design work for the Vernon Hills NCT WRF improvements project totals $27,240 and exceeds 10% of the original contract.
· As part of the design phase of the project, Public Works staff has increased the scope of the project by requesting additional operational and maintenance improvements be included in the design.
· These additional improvements include replacement of the existing lighting in the Filter Building, replacement of the three overhead doors in the Filter Building, revision of the pump control system for the chlorine tank dewatering pumps, and inclusion of a new level control system for the clarifier pump station.
· These additional items are necessary for proper operation and control of the plant. By including these items with this project, we will realize better cost efficiencies.
· Change Order #2 increases the amount of the engineering services contract by $27,240 from $158,278 to $185,518.
