Staff Summary
· Each year segments of older deteriorated water mains are designated for replacement which requires engineering plans and specifications be prepared by a qualified engineering firm.
· The FY 2012 replacement project includes approximately 9,500 feet of pipeline replacement throughout Lake County water systems.
· Three engineering firms were selected to submit qualifications for this design work.
· Based on staff evaluations, RHMG, Inc. of Libertyville, IL is the most qualified firm and a scope of services was negotiated for the project.
· Committee authorization and County Board approval is requested to execute an agreement for professional engineering services with RHMG in the amount of $91,046 for the design and drawing preparation of the FY 2012 Water Main Replacement Project.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the County of Lake owns, operates and maintains water distribution systems serving unincorporated areas of Wildwood, Countryside Manor, and Knollwood-Rondout; and

WHEREAS, certain portions of these distribution systems are in need of replacement due to frequent water main breaks, poor water quality or highway improvement projects; and

WHEREAS, the Public Works Department solicited and received proposals from three professional engineering firms; and

WHEREAS, the Public Works Department evaluated the proposals based on several criteria and determined that Rezek, Henry, Meisenheimer and Gende, Inc.(RHMG) was the most qualified firm to provide professional engineering services for this project; and

WHEREAS, Lake County has had a prior satisfactory relationship for professional services with RHMG; and

WHEREAS, an Agreement has been negotiated with RHMG to provide the necessary engineering services; and
