Joint resolution authorizing an emergency appropriation to fund the creation of seven additional full-time Deputy Sheriff positions necessary to provide police services in the Village of Deer Park.
Staff Summary
· This is a new contract for the Sheriff’s Office with the Village of Deer Park.
· The contract provides for 24 hour coverage in the residential area and 17 hours of coverage in the commercial areas.
· For each hour of service, the Village is paying the Sheriff’s Office standard contractual rate as calculated each year with Finance and Administrative Services.
· The Sheriff’s Office is requesting the addition of seven Deputy Sheriff Grade I positions to the position inventory that are linked to this police contract. The seven positions include factoring in shift relief factor.
· The Village is also scheduled to pay for the initial purchase of the squad cars associated with this contract.

WHEREAS, Lake County and the Village of Deer Park have entered into an intergovernmental agreement that initiates police services in the Village for twenty-four (24) hours per day in the residential areas and seventeen (17) hours per day in the business areas beginning at 12:00 AM on November 15, 2011; and
WHEREAS, the County Board will approve this agreement at its November 8, 2011 meeting; and
WHEREAS, the creation of these positions necessitates an emergency appropriation of $74,623 in Fiscal Year 2011 to provide for the costs of said positions for the remaining pay periods of FY 2011; and

WHEREAS, offsetting additional revenue in the amount of $74,623 shall be deposited in account 101-3001110-45380.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that seven (7) full-time Deputy Sheriff Grade I positions be added to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
