· Lake County was impacted by a severe winter storm, blizzard conditions, and record snowfall from January 31 through February 3, 2011.
· Lake County Division of Transportation incurred substantial excess costs related to preparing for and responding to the blizzard.
· The Lake County Division of Transportation received notification from The Illinois Emergency Management Agency that it will receive $123,159 in reimbursements for expenses incurred.
· Funds received will be deposited in the County’s General Operating Expense Fund and transferred into the County’s Highway Tax Fund.

WHEREAS, Lake County and surrounding areas of northeastern Illinois were impacted by a severe winter storm, blizzard conditions, and record snowfall on February 1st and 2nd, 2011; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Transportation received notification that it will receive reimbursement in the amount of $123,159 for preparing and responding to the blizzard,
WHEREAS, in compliance with the County’s financial policies of treating additional revenue as general revenue, the reimbursement shall be deposited into the County’s General Operating Fund (GOE),
WHEREAS, it is necessary to transfer these funds to the County’s Highway Fund to offset expenses incurred by the Division of Transportation,
WHEREAS, an emergency appropriation of $123,159 is required in accept the funds as revenue and appropriate the funds in GOE so they can be transferred to the County’s Highway Tax Fund,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that Lake County does hereby appropriate $123,159 in account 101-1102040-49910-000-000-000-0000 and 101-1102040-65180-000-000-000-00000 for the purposes of transferring the money to the County’s Highway Tax Fund.
