Re Board Member Expenses Clarification

At the direction of the Finance and Administrative Committee, staff completed a study of costs comparisons between lap top computers and iPad tablets. The study was presented at the August 3rd F&A meeting. Based on this analysis it was the direction of committee that iPads be offered to Board Members as an alternative to laptops at such time as laptops need to be replaced. County Board rules direct that any modifications or clarifications to Board rules related to Board member expenses be approved by the F&A Committee. Therefore, action is requested to interpret the following language to include iPads in place of laptop computers.

A. All County Board members shall be provided a county laptop computer, printer and or fax machine (or equivalent) while on the County Board for County business purposes only. This equipment and any other equipment purchased with County funds are County property. All equipment must remain in the sole possession and use of the County Board Member and must be returned at the conclusion of their services. Any items that are lost or stolen must be reported to the County Board office immediately.
