Staff Summary
· As part of the County’s long-term infrastructure improvements program the Diamond-Sylvan Lake Diversion Phase II Project requires construction of a major pump station and force main.
· This project will include construction of a new pump station on Hilgers Court, installation of 7,500 feet of 18-inch diameter force main, and 2,000 feet of 20-inch diameter gravity main.
· The County received requests for bid documents from 20 contractors and received responsive bids from five contractors for this work.
· Award of this contract is recommended to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, PirTano Construction Company, Inc., Addison, Illinois in the amount of $2,775,505.
· This resolution authorizes a contract with PirTano Construction Company, Inc. in the amount of $2,775,505 for the Diamond-Sylvan Lake Diversion Phase II Project.

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, the County of Lake (County) owns, operates and maintains sanitary sewer systems, including a Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) within the Southeast Central Lake Facility Planning Area; and

WHEREAS, the County’s long-term infrastructure improvements program requires construction of a major pump station and sanitary sewer force main to transfer flow from the Diamond-Sylvan Lake WRF to the Vernon Hills WRF; and

WHEREAS, the Diamond-Sylvan Lake Diversion Phase II Project will facilitate the transfer of flow between the WRF’s; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 4-102 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, bids were called for by publication for the Diamond-Sylvan Lake Diversion Phase II Project; and

WHEREAS, subsequent to said publication, the County received requests for bid documents for this work from twenty (20) contractors; and
