Staff Summary
· This is the annual Tobacco Enforcement Grant which covers the time period of August 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.
· The grant covers all expenses related to enforcement including:
o 126 overtime hours at $54.45 per hour = $6,860.65
o $720 paid to minors for attempted purchases of tobacco
o Total spent on this grant = $7,580.65
o Total previous award was $9,130
· The three rounds of compliance checks resulted in 9 total violations with the fine potential of $200 per violation.

Body
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois Liquor Control Commission (Commission) has notified the Lake County Sheriff that a Tobacco Enforcement Grant had been awarded for the time period August 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012; and

WHEREAS, the Lake County Sheriff will provide compliance check s with tobacco retailers; and

WHEREAS, the Commission will issue 50% of the contract amount upon execution of the contract and 50% upon receipt of the Tobacco Enforcement Summary for the 1st round of compliance checks. If after the first round of compliance checks the required number of checks was not completed, the Commission will pro-rate the final payment of 50% to reflect the actual number of checks. The Commission will provide written notice to the Lake County Sheriff indicating the action to pro-rate the agreement.

WHEREAS, the grant must be formally accepted by the County of Lake and the necessary appropriations and approvals made.


NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the acceptance of the Lake County Sheriff’s Tobacco Enforcement Grant in the amount of $9,240 for the period beginning August 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012; is hereby accepted’ and
