Report on operational water system services to the Wadsworth Oaks Homeowners Association (HOA).
Staff summary
• The County currently provides operational and maintenance services for the water system that services the Wadsworth Oaks Subdivision HOA.
• All water systems in the State of Illinois are required to have a certified water operator in charge of their water system. We serve this function for the Wadsworth Oaks HOA.
• The HOA owns the water system that serves 63 homes with water provided by two shallow groundwater wells.
• The County provides for the daily operation of the system and provides repair of facilities on a time and material basis at the direction of the HOA.
• Several events have compelled us to conduct a review of the services we provide, including current facility conditions, infrastructure replacement philosophy of the HOA, regulatory requirements, and potential risks associated with aging water systems.
• As a result, we are recommending that it would be in the County’s best interest to cancel future operational services, and prepare to send notification of such action to the HOA.
