Staff Summary

•                     A WIA Incentive Grant has been awarded by the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to the Lake County Workforce Development Department.

•                     The Workforce Investment Act provides incentive funds to local areas that exceed the WIA performance measures.

•                     Lake County Workforce Development Department exceeded performance measures in five of nine categories.

•                     A grant in the amount of $13,776 has been awarded to Lake County to be used for any allowable WIA activity.

•                     A resolution accepting the grant and authorizing an emergency appropriation is required.

Body

                     WHEREAS, the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has awarded a Workforce Investment Act Incentive Grant to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and

                     WHEREAS, the grant may be used for any allowable Workforce Investment Act activity; and

                     WHEREAS, it is necessary to appropriate these funds in the Workforce Development Department budget.

                     NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois that an emergency appropriation in the amount of $13,776 in the Lake County Workforce Development Department budget be authorized; and

                     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Lake County Workforce Development budget be modified to reflect the additional funds received.
