Ordinance amending the Lake County Public Nuisance Ordinance establishing landscape waste burning regulations.

Staff Summary

·      On January 25, 2011, the Planning, Building and Zoning (PBZ) and Health and Community Service (HCS) Committees directed staff to develop proposed landscape waste burning restrictions that could be utilized to address open burning concerns in the vicinity of Stevenson High School.

·      Staff presented a proposal for landscape waste burning restrictions at the April 5, PBZ and HCS Committees and was directed to solicit public input on the proposed regulations.

·      The PBZ Committee was provided the received public input and directed staff to modify the proposed regulations to: eliminate monthly burn restrictions, increase permitted burn times, and increase permitted burn times on Saturday to be consistent with permitted times on Sunday.

·      An ordinance establishing landscape waste burning restrictions incorporating the direction from the PBZ Committee during its May 31 meeting is attached.
