• 2011 Bituminous Shoulder Maintenance Appropriation
• Each year the County undertakes maintenance of its bituminous shoulders to preserve the surface quality.
• Resurfacing is done on isolated sections of shoulders that are not on the list of resurfacing/rehabilitation/reconstruction projects, as programmed in the 5-year program from the results of the pavement management system.
• Before a project letting can be held, an appropriation of $230,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds is necessary.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, in order to preserve the condition of the bituminous shoulders on the designated routes on the county highway system, the Division of Transportation annually undertakes the shoulder maintenance, where necessary, on various county highways; and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of bituminous shoulder maintenance activities for 2011 is $230,000.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that there is hereby appropriated $230,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds for bituminous shoulder maintenance for fiscal year 2011 on various county highways and designated as Section 11-00000-15-GM.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this appropriation be processed by the County Engineer for final approval of the Illinois Department of Transportation in accordance with the “Agreement of Understanding” between the Illinois Department of Transportation and Lake County, dated January 22, 2003.
