Staff Summary
· Lake County desires to enter into a contract with EHC Industries, Inc., for asbestos abatement in the courts complex boiler room and the County Clerk's basement storage room in the Lake County Building at 18 N. County St., Waukegan, IL.
· Invitations for bids were extended to 10 contractors and nine sealed bids were received.
· The eight other bids received ranged from $82,700 to $111,680 and one bid was withdrawn on account of a valid error in bid preparation.
· EHC Industries, of Wauconda, IL is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in the total amount of $68,300.

WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 4-102 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, bids were called for by publication for Asbestos Abatement in the courts complex boiler room and the County Clerk's basement storage area in the Lake County Building; and
WHEREAS, subsequent to said publication, invitations to bid were extended to ten (10) contractors and sealed bids were received and opened on March 25, 2011 from nine (9) contractors; and
WHEREAS, EHC Industries, Inc, Wauconda, IL is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in the amount of $68,300; eight (8) other bids received ranged from $87,700 to $111,680 and one (1) bid was withdrawn on account of a bona fide error in bid preparation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with EHC Industries, Inc., Wauconda, IL in the amount of $68,300 for Asbestos Abatement in the Courts Complex Boiler Room and the County Clerk's Basement Storage Area, charging the total costs to account 101-1103285-82020.
