Resolution proclaiming the week of April 25 - 30, 2011 as Community Development Week in Lake County, Illinois.
Body
WHEREAS, the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program has operated since 1975 to provide local governments with the opportunity to meet the needs of low and moderate income residents by providing resources to address pressing neighborhood and human service needs; and
WHEREAS, Lake County has received nearly $100 million since 1975 through its participation in the CDBG Program, which has been used to fund public infrastructure improvements (including flood prevention activities, provision of sanitary sewer and water lines, and construction of storm sewers), activities to provide affordable housing, housing rehabilitation, social services, and economic development activities; and
WHEREAS, communities across the nation are celebrating Community Development Week in an effort to showcase the projects and services made possible by the CDBG Program.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that we do hereby proclaim the week of April 25 - 30, 2011, as Lake County Community Development Week in Lake County, Illinois.
