Joint resolution authorizing acceptance and an emergency appropriation of the 2010 Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance grant award.
Staff Summary
· On November 16, 2010, the County Board authorized application for HUD’s Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance competitive grant program.
· Lake County received notice that it has been awarded $1,851,984 from this grant program.
· Planning, Building and Development will administer $803,190 of the award (9 projects), the Health Department will administer $387,696 (2 projects), and the remaining amount of $661,098 (5 projects), will be administered directly by authorized agencies (see provided attachment).
· This resolution authorizes: 1) acceptance of the homeless assistance grant award; 2) execution of the necessary subrecipient agreements; and 3) an emergency appropriation.

WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development made available $1.68 billion through a nation-wide competition for assistance to homeless individuals and families through its Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance NOFA; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Board previously approved a resolution on November 16, 2010 to authorize the chairman to execute the necessary documents to submit an application for the 2010 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance NOFA; and
WHEREAS, Lake County received notification from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in February 2009 awarding $1,851,984 through the 2010 Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance NOFA, $803,190 of which will be administered by Lake County, $387,696 administered by the Health Department, and the remaining amount, $661,098 will be administered directly by the respective agencies.
