Staff Summary
· The Project Safe Neighborhoods grant previously funded a crime analyst position from May 2008 to November 2009; however, this grant expired and was not renewed.
· Through the federal ARRA grant #809053 the State’s Attorney’s Office would receive 100% funding to reinstate a crime analyst position from May 1, 2011 to February 28, 2013.
· The program supports 21 months of salary, fringe and administrative expenses of a Crime Analyst position for the State’s Attorney’s Office.
· The Crime Analyst will perform duties in the Drug Prosecution/Asset Forfeiture Division to gather, analyze and disseminate information with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in furtherance of investigation and prosecution of organized crime members.
· The Crime Analyst position will be eliminated upon the expiration of ARRA grant #809053.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office is in the process of applying for a US Department of Justice 2009 American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) grant, administered through the State of Illinois, that provides federal funds to state and local governments to create or retain jobs and stimulate the economy; and

WHEREAS, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office will use this funding to re-implement a Crime Analyst position in its inventory for the duration of the grant; and

WHEREAS, the 2009 ARRA JAG Grant program budget is $165,079 and it is necessary to appropriate this amount; and

WHEREAS, this new grant requires a separate accounting of Recovery Act funding.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the application, award, and execution of this 2009 federal ARRA JAG Grant for Lake County on behalf of the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office are hereby authorized; a...
