Committee action on participation in the formation of an SSA for a water system installation to the Herons Landing Subdivision.
Staff Summary
• The residents of Herons Landing Subdivision have petitioned the Village of Long Grove to form an SSA for the construction of a water distribution system to provide Lake Michigan water via the County’s Public Works Department.
• The County has received approval from the Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency to expand the County’s service area to include service to the 118 Long Grove residents in Herons Landing.
• The Village held a Public Hearing on January 11, 2011 for the purpose of considering the formation of an SSA to fund the construction of water system improvements, and the 60-day objection period will expire on March 10, 2011.
• Various issues with respect to the project will be reviewed with Committee for input and direction.
• Committee direction is requested to begin work on an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village of Long Grove to identify respective responsibilities for formation of this SSA and to develop a retail water service agreement for this subdivision.
