· 2010 Census data for Lake County has been made available;
· Illinois law requires the Lake County Board, by July 1, 2011, reapportion Lake County so each Member of the County Board represents the same number of inhabitants; and
· It is the Chairman’s recommendation that a Reapportionment Committee be established to make recommendations to this County Board regarding its statutory obligations relative to reapportionment.

WHEREAS, 2010 Census data for Lake County has been made available; and

WHEREAS, the Illinois Compiled Statutes, 55 ILCS 5/2-3001 et seq., require that the Lake County Board, by July 1, 2011, must reapportion Lake County so that each Member of the County Board represents the same number of inhabitants; and

WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of your Chairman that the County Board establish a Reapportionment Committee to make recommendations to this County Board regarding its statutory obligations relative to reapportionment.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that:
1. There is hereby established the Lake County Reapportionment Committee;
2. The members of said Committee shall be appointed by the Chairman of the County Board with the approval of a majority of the Board Members present.
3. It shall be the Committee’s duty to report to the County Board its recommendations (by the June 14, 2011 County Board meeting) on the following statutorily required determinations:
a. An apportionment plan for each board district such that the district:
1. Shall be equal in population to each other district;
2. Shall be comprised of contiguous territory, as nearly compact as practicable;
3. May divide townships or municipalities only when it is necessary to conform to the population requirement of item Number 1 above; and
