Joint resolution authorizing an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Beach Park for the purpose of continuing to provide police services to the Village.
Staff Summary
· The Village has agreed to continue the police services contract for a period of 3 more years.
· The contract continues the 17 hour service with the Sheriff’s Office providing one officer on the day shift and one officer on the afternoon shift.
· All cost are included in the contract rate including the vehicle expense. The Village has also agreed to an increase in cost of 10.33% for 2011 to align the hourly rate with our other police contracts.
· Each of the two (2) additional years has an annual increase of 4%. This is sufficient to cover all costs associated with this contract.
Body
WHEREAS, the Village of Beach Park has requested that the Sheriff continue to provide additional police services to said Village; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Beach Park has requested a continuation of police services of seventeen (17) hours per day, three hundred and sixty five (365) days per year; and
WHEREAS, the Sheriff has negotiated an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village relative to providing said services.
WHEREAS, the County and the Village are proposing that the new rate for the patrol service will be $480,576 for calendar year 2011, or $40,048 per month, increased by four (4) percent each of the next two (2) calendar years, as stated in the Intergovernmental Agreement; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Chair of the Board and the Sheriff are hareby authorized to execute an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village of Beach Park for the purpose of continuing to provide additional police services in the Village, effective January 1, 2008.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Village of Beach Park and the Lake County Sheriff.
