Committee action approving an extension to the Refuse and Recycling Collection Services Contract.

 

Staff Summary

                     In 2005 the Lake County Board approved a Resolution to enter into a three-year contract with renewal options with Onyx Waste Services, Inc., Zion, Illinois for Refuse Collection Services.

                     Onyx Waste Services is now known as Veolia Environmental Services, Waukegan, Illinois.

                     There is a need to extend the current agreement with Veolia Environmental Services through February 28, 2011 in order to continue service and provide time to secure a new contract.

                     This change is germane to the original contract as signed and is in the best interests of the County.

                     Currently the contract cost approximately $79,000 per year.

1.                     In 2005 the Lake County Board approved a Resolution to enter into a three-year contract with renewal options with Onyx Waste Services, Inc., Zion, Illinois, now known as Veolia Environmental Services, Waukegan, Illinois for Refuse Collection Services.

2.                     There is a need to extend the current agreement with Veolia Environmental Services through February 28, 2011 in order to continue service and get a new contract in place.  Veolia Environmental Services has agreed to this extension.

3.                     This change is germane to the original contract as signed and is in the best interests of the County.

4.                     In accordance with Article 8, Section 101(1) of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, it is hereby requested that the Purchasing Agent be authorized to enter into an extension through February 28, 2011.
