R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Police Agencies in Lake County, provide crash data to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT); and
WHEREAS, IDOT collects crash data for the entire state of Illinois and stores data electronically, including electronic versions of the individual crash reports; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) currently receives electronic summaries of crash data from IDOT; and
WHEREAS, a new state law enables IDOT to provide copies of redacted individual copies of cash reports to local agencies, which reports are necessary for detailed traffic engineering studies; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement regarding access to said electronic redacted individual copies of crash reports for statistical and analytical purposes, a draft copy of which is attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County Illinois that the Chair of the County Board, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County be authorized and they are directed to execute an agreement pertaining to the access of statewide electronic crash data from the State of Illinois and such authorization shall include any necessary subsequent amendments.
