SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Women's History Month recognizes the extraordinary achievements of women throughout history, acknowledges the obstacles they have overcome, and increases awareness of the importance women have played in the history of our nation; and
WHEREAS, women of every race, class, and ethnic background have contributed to the growth and strength of our nation in recorded and unrecorded ways; and
WHEREAS, women have consistently demonstrated resilience and strength to overcome adverse conditions and hardship, and have made sacrifices to ensure that our nation prospered; and
WHEREAS, women have led the way in establishing a sound, more democratic country by championing basic human rights, through fighting for the right to vote, and ensuring access and equal opportunity for all through the feminist movement; and
WHEREAS, women have tirelessly fought for equitable pay, educational and career opportunities so that women in our country and throughout the world can enjoy rewarding careers; and
WHEREAS, many cultural, educational, and charitable institutions have been founded by women, contributing substantial time and money to these organizations and causes; and
WHEREAS, because of the numerous efforts of woman trailblazers throughout United States history, women have made and continue to make advancements in every aspect of life including science, education, law, and literature.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, that this County Board of Lake County, Illinois celebrates March 2024 as Women's History Month; and
BE IT FURTHER RECOGNIZED, that this County Board encourages residents to use Women's History Month and the months thereafter as an opportunity to reflect on and share the significant contributions, successes, and challenges of women throughout our history to strengthen our collective resolve to live up to the ideals of freedom, equality, and justice for all.
