SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, free and fair elections play an essential role in our democracy, and ensuring that every Lake County voter can vote safely, securely, and without fear of intimidation is critically important to the well-being of our municipalities, county, state, and country; and
WHEREAS, elections are the foundation of our democracy, and election officials work tirelessly to protect this critical infrastructure while maintaining public confidence in the outcome of our electoral processes; and
WHEREAS, since 2020 over 3,000 Lake County residents have stepped up to serve as an election worker with the Lake County Clerk’s Office; and
WHEREAS, our election heroes never fail to display courage, flexibility, resilience, and dedication to facilitating safe, secure, and successful elections, even in the face of a global pandemic and the recent movements calling the security, integrity, and character of elections into question; and
WHEREAS, today Lake County joins all Lake County residents in expressing our sincere gratitude and appreciation for all those who work tirelessly to protect the integrity of our electoral system by providing safe, secure, and accessible voting experiences for citizens across our county, state, and country.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that November 2023 is designated as Election Hero Month in Lake County and encourages residents to not only exercise their right to vote but also take time to acknowledge and thank the election administrators, municipal clerks, staff, poll workers, and volunteers who dedicate themselves to keeping our elections safe, accessible, and efficient across Lake County.
