Policy discussion on bird-friendly design in unincorporated Lake County.

 

Staff Summary

•                     IL SB1997 was signed into law by the Governor on June 30, 2023, which allows Lake County to consider bird-friendly building design amendments to the Lake County Code.

•                     Staff gave a presentation on this topic to the PBZE Committee on June 28, 2023 which included an overview of bird-friendly building design, the current regional data on bird strike phenomenon, and a summary of innovative solutions to mitigate bird strikes within the built environment.

•                     Staff will review the PWPT Committee’s previous policy direction for staff, discuss policy options, and facilitate Committee discussion and consensus on future direction.
