Proposed Revisions to the Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (OWTS) Program Administrative Procedures and Policies - Mackey

Lake County Code of Ordinances Chapter 171 authorizes and directs the Health Officer to develop procedures, practices, and policies to interpret and enforce the rules and regulations in the Chapter. The OWTS Program Administrative Procedures and Policies, referenced in Chapter 171, provide direction to staff on how to conduct the activities of the program, and assure consistency and continuity in program policies and procedures.
Revisions are proposed to the current OWTS Program Administrative Procedures and Policies to provide clarity on the requirement of replacing a residential building in the original building footprint and to clarify and provide more detailed guidance to staff on the handling of code enforcement cases for failing OWTS and surface discharging OWTS.
These proposed revisions were reviewed and approved by the Environmental Health Advisory Committee at their May 15, 2023, meeting.
