Special recognition of the collaboration between the Christopher D. Redding Youth Asthma Foundation, the Mobile Care Chicago, and the Lake County Health Department to launch the Lake County Asthma Van.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, the Christopher D. Redding Youth Asthma Foundation (CDRYAF), Mobile Care Chicago (MCC) and the Lake County Health Department have partnered to launch a new asthma van in Lake County, Illinois. The Lake County Asthma Van will provide free, high-quality asthma and allergy care to children in the Lake County area; and
WHEREAS, the collaboration is the result of years of effort and fundraising by both organizations, who have a shared mission to improve the health and wellbeing of underserved communities in Lake County; and
WHEREAS, CDRYAF was founded in 2013 by Michael and Helen Redding, who tragically lost their 18-year old son, Christopher, a three-sport, student athlete who collapsed and died of an exercise-induced asthma attack while jogging near his home in Lake Zurich; and
WHEREAS, for over 20 years, MCC has served the Chicago area, with mobile medical units which travel directly to schools to provide continuous, comprehensive asthma treatments to kids until they turn 18 years old; and
WHEREAS, the program ensures families who are uninsured or without a provider do not have to rely on emergency room visits to treat their child's asthma, or even worse - go without treating their asthma at all; and
WHEREAS, the Asthma Van will provide asthma screenings, asthma management education to youth, families, athletic personnel, and communities. CDRYAF and MCC are reaching out to school districts, community organizations, hospital systems, and primary care offices to raise awareness about the services and make referrals to the Lake County Asthma Van.
