• This policy establishes guidelines for the display of flags, to include the United States national flag, State of Illinois flag and the Lake County, Illinois flag, in and around Lake County Government facilities.
• The policy includes the general display of flags and authorized flags for limited display (Prisoner of War / Missing in Action (POW / MIA) flag and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer, Plus (LGBTQ+) Pride flag).

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the “Flag Code,” Section 1 of Title 4 of the United States Code (4 U.S.C. § 1 et seq.), provides guidance on the display of the United States national flag and any other flags displayed with the United States national flag; and
WHEREAS, the Illinois Flag Display Act (5 ILCS 465/1) provides the guidance and duties of each county board regarding the display of the United States national flag and the MIA (POW) flag; and
WHEREAS, the POW / MIA flag and LGBTQ+ Pride flag have been displayed in past years by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Flag Policy establishes guidelines for the display of flags, to include the United States national flag, State of Illinois flag and the Lake County, Illinois flag, in and around Lake County Government facilities; and
WHEREAS, the policy includes authorized flags for limited display; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Flag Policy applies to all Lake County Government facilities over which the Lake County Board has authority.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the attached Lake County Flag Policy is hereby approved and adopted.
