Ordinance amending a previous ordinance designating the voting sites assigned to 14 of the 431 precincts in Lake County Townships.

Staff Summary

•                     After reviewing voting sites for the April 4, 2023 Consolidated General Election, voting site changes are proposed to provide better voting locations to those precincts affected by sites that have requested to discontinue serving due to parking, ADA accessibility, and voting room limitations.

•                     Re-assigns each precinct to a newly identified appropriate voting site which has sufficient parking and voting space as well as full accessibility for all voters.

ORDINANCE

WHEREAS, Lake County has 431 voting precincts in 18 townships; and

WHEREAS, for Libertyville Township precincts 180, 181, 182 and 183, Community Protestant Church has requested to discontinue offering its location as a polling place due to an inoperable elevator creating ADA accessibility challenges; and

WHEREAS, for Moraine Township precincts 217, 218, 219 and 223, Highland Park Community House has requested to discontinue offering its location as a polling place; and

WHEREAS, for Vernon Township precincts 287, 294, 295, 296 and 297, Aptakisic Junior High School has requested to discontinue offering its location as a polling place; and

WHEREAS, for Vernon Township precinct 293, a more suitable location for voter access has been identified; and

WHEREAS, each said precinct is being relocated to a voting site which has sufficient parking and voting space as well as full accessibility; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, the attached “Exhibit A” sets forth the voting sites assigned to each of the affected precincts, which are identified by name and location.
