Special recognition of Mary Ellen Vanderventer for her years of service to Lake County.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Vanderventer was first hired as the Lake County Elections Administrator in 1986, where she oversaw 26 national, state, and local elections over ten years; and
WHEREAS, in 1996 Mary Ellen was elected Lake County Recorder, becoming the first woman in Lake County history to serve as Recorder; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ellen has worked diligently throughout her career, making exceptional customer service and outstanding fiscal management the cornerstones of her administration; and
WHEREAS, under Mary Ellen’s leadership, the Recorder’s office has been recognized statewide for paving the way with comprehensive technology infrastructure, taking the office into the next generation of operations and efficiency; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ellen is highly regarded in her field and has served on multiple boards throughout the State of Illinois and Lake County; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ellen fully supported and worked to help pass the referendum to combine the Lake County Clerk’s office and the Recorder’s office; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Vanderventer will retire on November 30, 2022, after 36 years of dedicated service to Lake County government and as the last elected Recorder in Lake County history.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lake County Board hereby honors Mary Ellen Vanderventer for her dedication and years of service to Lake County, Illinois.
