* The WIOA QUEST grant is designed to enhance the public workforce system's ongoing effort to empower America's unemployed and underemployed workers through worker and business engagement, elevate equity and connect job seekers with high-quality jobs.
* The WIOA QUEST grant of $703,450 will be used for expenses associated with training, work experiences, support services, and payment processing.
* A vacant case manager position will be funded with this grant to provide case management to the displaced workers eligible for grant services.
* The grant period is October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2024.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has provided the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Quality Jobs, Equity, Strategy, and Training (QUEST) Dislocated Worker grant totaling $703,450 to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and,

WHEREAS, this WIOA QUEST grant is for the program period of October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2024; and

WHEREAS this grant training, work experiences, support services, and payment processing; and

WHEREAS, this grant will be used to fund a vacant position that will be eliminated if or when this grant's funding is no longer available and no other funding source outside of property tax dollars has been identified; and

WHEREAS, an emergency appropriation of $703,450 is requested to allocate these funds into the Workforce Department's county fiscal year 2022 budget and authorize acceptance of this grant.
