Presentation & discussion regarding the Single Use Plastic Prohibition.
Staff Summary
• On December 14, 2021, the County Board passed a joint resolution adopting a policy to prohibit single use plastics in Lake County Operations by January 1, 2023.
• On September 8, 2020, the County Board passed a joint resolution committing Lake County government operations to a 60 percent diversion rate of recyclables and organics from its own waste stream by 2030 and 90 percent by 2040.
• The Sustainability Program Manager has created a presentation reflecting work with vendors, partner organizations, and department staff which details methods for eliminating single use plastic from operations.
