Body

Bruce Robbins, Facilities Manager, retired after 22 years of service to the Health Department. His last day was October 3, 2022.

Joined the Health Department team in May 2000 bringing his talents as a skilled carpenter and contractor after decades as a businessman.

Started at a time when there was a pent-up demand for facility improvements and a pending boom of funding to renovate or build new facilities.

Has, in very critical ways, been responsible for or helped support at least thirty-two locations over the years.

Not including every dollar spent under his direction, the major new construction, renovations, improvements, and annual capital investments total over $65 million.

Even when not owned or directly controlled by the Health Department, he helped assure staff were able to provide services and thereby meet all regulating and accrediting body standards.

Takes great pride in the condition of Health Department facilities and works to exceed expectations.

Is a master at solving problems, working within a budget, and working with others.

Has developed a highly skilled team to quickly manage and respond to the agency’s needs and, through his skilled direction, complete many projects utilizing internal staff.

With a degree in Wildlife Biology and a love of outdoor activities, promotes energy efficient operations and is a strong protector of the environment, including many years as a demonstration model for limited salt use in the winter months in partnership with agency Environmental Health staff.

With his forethought and direction, the Facilities team has helped our clients, patients, visitors, and staff enjoy high quality facilities for respectful, safe, and supportive services.

We thank him for his dedicated service and wish him well for a long and well-deserved retirement.
