SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Lake County’s strength is rooted in our people and their diversity. All sexual orientations, genders, races, religions, countries of origin, incomes, and all who live, work, and enjoy Lake County are welcome here; and
WHEREAS, Celebrate Diversity Month was created to recognize and celebrate everyone’s unique cultures, backgrounds, and traditions in all aspects of our lives and our communities; and
WHEREAS, people of all backgrounds contribute to our democracy, strengthening our communities, culture, and economy; and
WHEREAS, recognizing and respecting each other’s differences plus our similarities, will help Lake County residents achieve a deeper understanding of each other and a greater appreciation for the diversity that surrounds us; and
WHEREAS, there are many ways to celebrate diversity in your community such as attending a cultural event, playing music from around the world, and supporting minority-owned businesses; and
WHEREAS, Lake County stands against any physical or verbal attacks, harassment or intimidation that disrespects or degrades people’s identities, experiences, and beliefs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, that the Lake County Board does hereby proclaim August 2022 as Celebrate Diversity Month and encourages all residents to celebrate our great diversity and to affirm Lake County to be a welcoming community for all.
