Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center (LCHD/CHC) is seeking a qualified vendor for the purchase of retinal screening devices and services to enhance our patient care. The devices will be used to screen and evaluate diabetic patients for diabetic retinopathy. Screening for this eye disease can identify early changes in the retina so that it can be treated before vision impairment or blindness occurs. Funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant have been allocated for this RFP award recommendation and future cost will be covered by encounter revenue previously missed by providers doing the retinal reads.
A legal notice was published in The News Sun on March 23, 2022, soliciting Requests for Proposals (RFP 22026). The RFP was also posted to the LCHD/CHC website. Three suppliers submitted sealed proposals in the Materials Management office on April 7, 2022.
An evaluation committee comprised of LCHD/CHC staff reviewed and determined that EyePacs Inc. of Santa Cruz, California, best meets the needs of LCHD/CHC.
The EyePacs Inc. proposal includes the contract dollar amount of $109,988 for the one-time purchase of retinal equipment and the estimated amount of $31,540 for annual retinal readings and services. The contract term for services will be for an initial 2-year period with the option of three additional one-year renewals subject to acceptable performance by the contractor. Prices will remain firm/fixed for years one and two. The supplier must submit a written request sixty days in advance of the annual contract period for any future price increases after the initial two-year contract period.
