RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The National League of Families POW / MIA Flag is designated in 36 U.S.C.A. ? 902 as the symbol of our Nation's concern and commitment to resolving as fully as possible the fates of Americans still prisoner, missing, and unaccounted; and,

WHEREAS, Illinois State Statute (5 ILCS 465/1) states that the County Board may provide for the display of an "MIA Flag;" and,

WHEREAS, it is the sense of the Lake County Board that members of the Armed Forces of the United States who are or were prisoners of war or reported missing in action should be honored and remembered for their service and sacrifice: and,

WHEREAS, the display of the POW / MIA Flag by the Lake County Board symbolizes Lake County's concern and commitment to achieving the fullest possible accounting of members of the Armed Forces of the United States who, having been prisoners of war or missing in action, still remain unaccounted for; and,

WHEREAS, historically, Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, National POW / MIA Recognition Day and Veterans Day are the six days where display of ...
