SPECIAL RECOGNITION

 

WHEREAS, since 1973, access to reproductive healthcare has been a constitutionally protected right in the United States of America; and

 

WHEREAS, the Lake County Health Department currently provides reproductive health services including: comprehensive family planning counseling; education and medical care focusing on preconception and women’s healthcare services and information about family service clinic locations who provide abortion services in Lake County and the Chicago area; access to Plan B medications for uninsured women and referrals for Plan B medications to insured women who have access to Plan B over the counter at their pharmacies; obstetrics and gynecological (OB/GYN) medical services, including deliveries and surgeries to assist and assure that women have successful birth outcomes and good reproductive health; and

 

WHEREAS, access to these types of services is at risk in many parts of the country.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Lake County Board firmly supports the Lake County Health Department in providing vital reproductive health services at their facilities; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RECOGNIZED, that the Lake County Board provides its support to all clinics providing comprehensive women’s healthcare services, to continue to operate in a safe and supportive manner in Lake County.
