SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) has been celebrated the first full week in May since 1985, and is a time set aside to honor the men and women who serve our nation as federal, state, county and local government employees: and
WHEREAS, Americans are served every single day by public servants at the federal, state, county and city levels. These unsung heroes do the work that keeps our nation working. Their tireless efforts were especially critical during the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, many public servants, including appointed and elected officials, law enforcement and other first responders, court personnel, social service professionals, engineers and planners, health care professionals, and transportation and public works employees among other professionals provide important services each day to the people of Lake County and around the country; and
WHEREAS, day in and day out they provide the diverse services demanded by the American people of their government with efficiency and integrity; and
WHEREAS, without these public servants at every level, continuity would be impossible in a democracy that regularly changes its leaders and elected officials.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that May 1, 2022 through May 7, 2022 is Public Service Recognition Week in Lake County and public servants should be recognized this week and throughout the year; and
BE IT FURTHER RECOGNIZED that this Lake County Board does hereby thank the many public servants who serve Lake County and it encourages citizens to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of government employees at all levels, including federal, state, county and city.
