Staff Summary

•                     As part of the Fiscal Year 2022 Facility Assessment Budget Process and Facilities Capital Improvement Plan, Sheriff’s Shooting Pad Replacement for County Facilities was approved.

•                     This work is a high priority project for Lake County. Existing conditions are unsafe and restrict necessary training at the range. Project will remove existing asphalt shooting pad, install an improved aggregate base, storm water drainage with new piping, and install a new concrete pad.

•                     The County received one bid for the project in the amount of $842,000. 

•                     Following negotiations with the vendor has revised the price to $687,000.

•                     Award of this contract is recommended to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Rasch Construction & Engineering, Inc. of Kenosha, Wisconsin, who best meets the needs of the County in the amount of $687,000.

•                     This resolution authorizes and directs the County Purchasing Agent to execute a contract with Rasch Construction & Engineering, Inc. of Kenosha, Wisconsin, in the amount of $687,000.

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, the County of Lake (County) owns, operates the Lake County Sheriffs Shooting Range; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to replace the existing shooting pad and storm water piping; and

WHEREAS, this project includes the demolition of the existing asphalt shooting pad and storm water piping, relocation of site utilities and installation of a new concrete pad; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, bids were called for by publication for the Sheriffs Office Shooting Pad Replacement; and

WHEREAS, Rasch Construction & Engineering, Inc. is the lowest responsive, responsible bidder in the amount of $687,000.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized and directed to execute a contract with Rasch Construction & Engineering, Inc. of Kenosha, Wisconsin in the amount of $687,000 for the Sheriffs Office Shooting Pad Replacement.
