• The County Board, at its March 9, 2021, meeting, approved an appropriation of $225,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds and a construction engineering services agreement with Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd., Rosemont, Illinois, in the amount of $186,525.07, for Phase III construction engineering services for improvements along Illinois Route 120, from Knight Avenue to Illinois Route 131.
• Change orders need to be approved by standing committees for cumulative net increases over 10 percent.
• The sum of all contract change orders to date is $40,489.33, which represents a 21.7 percent increase over the original awarded contract amount.
• This project is included in the Transportation Improvement Program and designated as Section 12-00999-31-WR.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois, acting by and through its Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and Lake County believe it would be beneficial for the safety and welfare of the traveling public if Illinois Route 120, from Knight Avenue to Illinois Route 131, could be improved by resurfacing and widening, inclusive of non-motorized improvements; and
WHEREAS, the County Board, at its meeting on March 9, 2021, approved an appropriation of $225,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for Phase III construction engineering services for Illinois Route 120 improvements; and
WHEREAS, this project is currently under contract with Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd., Rosemont, Illinois, in the amount of $186,525.07; and
WHEREAS, Change Order Number Two, in the amount of $36,761.08, is needed for additional Phase III construction engineering services to the original contract; and
WHEREAS, a supplemental appropriation of funds is necessary for the additional scope of work; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance requires the Public Works, Planning and Transportation Committee and the Finance and Administrative Committee to approve change orders with cumulative totals above 10 percent of the original contract.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the County Engineer of Lake County is authorized and directed to execute on behalf of Lake County, Change Order Number Two in the amount of $36,761.08 for additional Phase III construction engineering services for improvements along Illinois Route 120, from Knight Avenue to Illinois Route 131.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is appropriated a supplemental amount of $3,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for these additional engineering services, and designated as Section 12-00999-31-WR.
