Presentation and discussion regarding the possible purchase of carbon offsets through Constellation NewEnergy Gas Division.
Staff Summary
• At the September 1, 2021 Public Works, Planning, and Transportation Committee meeting, a contract was presented for the gas service delivery for the Department of Public Works.
• Based on previous direction from Energy & Environment, sustainable-related options are being requested by Lake County’s Purchasing Division during the contracting of necessary services and products in County operations. As such, Constellation NewEnergy Gas Division provided an option of purchasing carbon offsets included in our purchase of natural gas.
• The Public Works, Planning & Transportation Committee requested that additional information be provided regarding the carbon offsets, and as such the information is being presented to Energy & Environment for direction.
