• The County Board, at its October 11, 2016 meeting, approved an appropriation of $920,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds and a consultant engineering agreement with Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc., Aurora, Illinois, in the amount of $766,445.83, for Phase I engineering services for the realignment of Cedar Lake Road in the Village of Round Lake.
• Change orders need to be approved by standing committees for cumulative net increases over 10 percent.
• The sum of all contract change orders to date is $601,025.68, which represents a 78.4 percent increase over the original awarded contract amount.
• This project is included in the Transportation Improvement Program and designated as Section 02-00065-01-FP.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Cedar Lake Road, County Highway 28, is a designated route on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, Lake County believes it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public if Cedar Lake Road, from Nippersink Road to Hart Road, in the Village of Round Lake, could be improved by a realignment; and
WHEREAS, the County Board, at its meeting of October 11, 2016, approved an appropriation of $920,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for Phase I engineering services for Cedar Lake Road realignment improvements; and
WHEREAS, this project is currently under contract with Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Aurora, Illinois, in the amount of $766,445.83; and
WHEREAS, Change Order Number Two, in the amount of $554,655.94, is needed for additional Phase I engineering services to the original contract; and
WHEREAS, a supplemental appropriation of funds is necessary for the additional scope of work; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance requires the Public Works, Planning and Transportation Committee and the Finance and Administrative Committee to approve change orders with cumulative totals above 10 percent of the original contract.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the County Engineer of Lake County is authorized and directed to execute on behalf of Lake County, Change Order Number Two in the amount of $554,655.94 for additional Phase I engineering services for the realignment of Cedar Lake Road, from Nippersink Road to Hart Road, in the Village of Round Lake, Illinois.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is appropriated a supplemental amount of $555,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for these additional engineering services, and designated as Section 02-00065-01-FP.
