Staff Summary
• Preliminary engineering for the Saunders Road Sanitary Sewer, Lift Station and Force Main Improvements is under contract with Donohue & Associates, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, (corporate office Sheboygan, Wisconsin) in the amount of $94,900.
• Through the preliminary engineering process, it was discovered that there may be a need to make adjustments for the Village of Riverwoods future water main project and planned work for the Lake County DOT in the same area.
• Contract Modification Number One is required for additional preliminary engineering work necessary to explore and design consolidation for the projects identified above. Contract Modification Number One increases the amount of the Preliminary Engineering Services contract from $94,900 to $148,710.
• In accordance with Article 8, Section 101 (1) of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance it is hereby requested that the Purchasing Agent be authorized to enter into Contract Modification Number One.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the County of Lake (County) owns, operates and maintains a wastewater collection and transmission system and sanitary sewer lift station along Saunders Road; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works entered into an agreement with Donohue & Associates, Inc. for preliminary engineering services for the Saunders Road Sanitary Sewer, Lift Station and Force Main Improvements project; and
WHEREAS, through the preliminary engineering process and coordination with the Village of Riverwoods, the need to consolidate the LCPW sewer system to one side of the Saunders Rd right-of-way between Duffy Ln and West Course Dr has been identified; and
WHEREAS, through coordination with the Lake County Division of Transportation and upon existing utility information that has become available through the preliminary engineering process, the need to evaluate alternative force main alignments for the Saunders Rd Sanitary Sewer, Lift Station and Force Main Improvements Project through the Saunders Rd and Deerfield Rd intersection has also been identified; and
WHEREAS, Contract Modification Number One is required for additional preliminary engineering work necessary to explore and design consolidation of the sanitary sewers at the north end of Saunders Rd, to evaluate alternative force main alignments through the Deerfield Rd and Saunders Rd intersection, and to amend the preliminary design completion date.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized and directed to execute Contract Modification Number One for Professional Services with Donohue & Associates, Inc. of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, in the amount of $44,810 for professional preliminary engineering services associated with the Saunders Road Sanitary Sewer, Lift Station and Force Main Improvements Project, for a total contract value of $148,710.
