Special recognition in observance of the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, September 11, 2001 will be a day our country will never forget; and
WHEREAS, September 11, 2001 commemorates the lives of those who died that day in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, every year since we come together in solidarity to remember the first responders and civilians whose lives were cut short by these acts of terror 20 years ago; and
WHEREAS, on that day and the days that followed, our country was united as Americans, no matter race, background, or religion, with a resolve to help the families of victims and first responders; and
WHEREAS, on September 11, we pay tribute to the first responders and citizens who answered the call to save lives with tremendous acts of courage and with no hesitation; and
WHEREAS, Americans are encouraged to participate in community service in honor of those lost or injured in recognition of the National Day of Service and Remembrance; and
WHEREAS, it is our duty to never forget the events that painful day so future generations can be reminded that when Americans from all walks of life unite, we are stronger as a country; and
WHEREAS, this day also has inspired many brave men and women to join our Armed forces as well as law enforcement to continue answering the call to defend our country.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, the Lake County Board hereby honors the lives lost 20 years ago on September 11, 2001, and we encourage residents to participate in community service and remembrance ceremonies on this day and throughout the year.
