Discussion on proposed text amendments to Chapter 94 of the Lake County, Illinois Code of Ordinances relating to the regulation of open burning of landscape waste in the unincorporated area.
Staff Summary
• In advance of the October 12, 2021 expiration of the Temporary Public Nuisance Ordinance, and per Committee direction, staff have explored options for permanent open burning restrictions and landscape waste disposal and sought public input through a variety of platforms that included a website, an informational meeting, public surveys, and emailed comments.
• During a joint meeting of the PWPT and E & E Committees on August 4, 2021, staff presented a summary of those options available for the franchising of waste hauling services and open burning regulations, as well as the public engagement results for Committee discussion and received direction to proceed with a set of proposed text amendments.
• Staff will present the details on the proposed amendments for Committee discussion prior to bringing the amendments back for Committee action.
