Special recognition of the contributions of health care and public health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, over this past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has taken the lives of so many people in Lake County and around the world and will affect millions more who will survive; and
WHEREAS, as we mourn the victims and care for the survivors, we also need to recognize the heroes who have emerged and continue to provide high-quality care to residents; and
WHEREAS, health care workers, including physicians, nurses, hospital support staff as well as emergency rescue personnel have provided essential services, caring for patients who have been infected with COVID-19. They have worked long hours and volunteered their time, risking their own lives to save the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, despite the challenges, including a higher risk of infection and continued emotional stress, our health care workers have shown bravery, dedication and professionalism; and
WHEREAS, our mental health professionals continue to provide excellent therapy and counseling services even during a time when these services need to be provided in a social distanced environment; and
WHEREAS, public health workers have worked tirelessly to create and administer tests and vaccinations and produce and publish accurate information to educate communities to help prevent the communal spread of COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, as the pandemic continues to evolve, the health care community continues to deliver high-quality care.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RECOGNIZED, the Lake County Board does hereby express sincere gratitude to the health care community and public health workers for all they’ve done to provide quality care and timely, trusted information to the residents of Lake County.
