Continued discussion of proposed ordinance amendments to the Lake County, Illinois Code of Ordinances related to wildlife rehabilitation and ecotherapy uses in unincorporated Lake County.
Staff Summary
• Throughout summer 2021, staff is presenting a discussion series on various proposed nature-based zoning amendments to the Lake County Code of Ordinances with the focus currently on wildlife rehabilitation and ecotherapy uses.
• The amendments would establish a new ‘ecotherapy’ use within the Community Services use category and include revisions to the Wildlife Rehabilitation use category. The final draft, attached as “Exhibit B”, reflects committee feedback and input from subject matter experts.
• Upon conclusion of the discussion series, staff will return to the Committee with a comprehensive packet of amendments and present a final version for the Committee to formally initiate the Zoning Board of Appeals public hearing process.
