Special recognition of Judy Martini for her service to the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Judy Martini served as a Lake County Board Member for District 1 from 1994-2008 and as a Lake County Board Member for District 5 from 2016 to 2021; and
WHEREAS, throughout her service on the Lake County Board Judy was committed to fiscal responsibility and transparency, promoting tourism and economic growth, protecting natural resources and helping those less fortunate; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure on the County Board, Judy was also an esteemed member of the Stormwater Management Commission (SMC) and represented two districts of the County, both in the Fox River Watershed; and
WHEREAS, during her years of service with the SMC, Judy was committed to making stormwater management a priority in Lake County and improving water quality for the residents, businesses and visitors to Lake County who utilize our natural waterways for recreation; and
WHEREAS, Judy was a driving force for the Fox River Watershed, in developing equitable funding policies across the County, towards reducing flooding and finding drainage solutions for problems in her district; and
WHEREAS, Judy has always advocated for governmental cooperation among the many agencies and local governments involved in the cause for improved water quality and flood damage mitigation, and as such was appointed as a member of the Fox River Flood Control Commission through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources; and
WHEREAS, Judy has been an outspoken supporter on the implementation of the Watershed Development Ordinance and its embodied principles of wetland mitigation, floodplain storage precepts, and erosion control practices; and
WHEREAS, Judy's leadership made a tremendous impact on Lake County, SMC and its staff, and she will be missed by
her colleagues and the many residents whose lives she touched; and
