Joint resolution authorizing an agreement with the State of Illinois/Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), for improvements along Illinois Route 132, from Sheehan Drive to Munn Road, and appropriating $50,000 of 1/4% Sales Tax for Transportation funds.
Staff Summary
* IDOT's improvement will widen and resurface Illinois Route 132 to provide center turn lanes, bike path, and sidewalk within the project limits, and will also include traffic signal and non-motorized improvements at the intersection of Deep Lake Road, which is a County highway.
* IDOT has secured federal funds to pay up to 80 percent of the costs for the project.
* The County's share of the project for the improvements to Deep Lake Road is estimated to be $9,200.
* This project is included in the Transportation Improvement Program with construction expected to begin in 2021, and designated as Section 21-00087-08-WR.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Deep Lake Road, County Highway 36, is a designated route on the County highway system; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the traveling public if Illinois Route 132, from Sheehan Drive to Munn Road, could be improved by widening and resurfacing inclusive of non-motorized improvements; and
WHEREAS, the project will also include improvements to Deep Lake Road; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement for the above referenced improvement, a draft copy of which is attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, an appropriation of funds is required.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized, and they are directed to execute an agreement, and any subsequent amendments, for the improvement on Illinois Route 132, from Sheehan Drive to Munn Road, and designated as Section 21-00087-08-WR.
