Staff Summary

                     This work includes installing a new concrete bike path on Butterfield Road.

                     This improvement will address identified non-motorized travel gaps on Butterfield Road.

                     There was a public call for bids, and a total of nine bids were received, ranging from $346,228.20 to $436,296, and the lowest responsible bidder is Triggi Construction, Inc., with a contract amount of $346,228.20.

                     This improvement is included in the Transportation Improvement Program with construction planned in 2021, and designated as Section 20-00137-18-BT.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted by this Lake County Board, the County Engineer heretofore called for sealed bids, by publication, for the Butterfield Road Bike Path project on Butterfield Road, from the EJ&E Railroad to Gregg’s Parkway/Allanson Road, and designated as Section 20-00137-18-BT; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication and calling for said bids, sealed bids were received and opened on June 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lake County Division of Transportation in Libertyville, Illinois, a tabulation of said bids being as follows:

WHEREAS, the Public Works, Planning and Transportation Committee, the County Engineer and the Purchasing Agent have examined each bid, and it appears that the lowest responsible bidder is Triggi Construction, Inc., their bid being $346,228.20 based on estimated quantities and unit prices; and

 

WHEREAS, an appropriation of funds is required.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that a contract be awarded to said Triggi Construction, Inc., in accordance with their bid of $346,228.20 based on estimated quantities and unit prices and that the Purchasing Agent, the County Clerk, and the County Engineer of Lake County be authorized and they are hereby directed to enter into a contract with said low bidder for the Butterfield Road Bike Path project, and designated as Section 20-00137-18-BT.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in as much as such estimated quantities are the best approximation that can be determined at this time, these quantities may be added to, deducted from, or modified from in the final determination of the contract cost in accordance with Chapter 605 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 without further Board action, providing the final cost chargeable to the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriation.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $420,000 of

¼% Sales Tax for Transportation funds.
